A double bill of young Scottish talent, packed with soulful grooves and funky melodies.
Glasgow based jazz-fusion ensemble Mezcla are attracting attention for their fresh blend of jazz, funk, rock and African and Latin American music.
Led by David Bowden, the line-up features some of the best of Glasgow’s vibrant young jazz scene. This exclusive EJBF set includes music from their debut album ‘Shoot the Moon’ - longlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year Award - as well as some new tracks written in lockdown.
Led by saxophonist Harry Weir, Blue Boar Brass are a brand-new brass band with a twist. Influenced by the individual style of Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and El Michels Affair, they play with huge drive and attack. This world premiere, recorded specially for EJBF, includes originals by Harry Weir as well as covers of songs by Björk, Kanye West and System of a Down, with incredible singer Rachel Lightbody joining as a special guest.
