Singers at Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival image

The distinctive melodies, tones and style of jazz singers make them the classiest in the music industry. From Cuba to Lithuania, the Festival hosts a worldly mix of swinging singers from across the globe.

Welcome back...

He’s suave, he’s sophisticated and now American jazz vocalist, Curtis Stigers, is returning to Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival to wow audiences with his swinging musical style. Stigers impressed last year as he saluted the one and only Frank Sinatra and now he’s back with a special show and his very own group. Stigers is one of the greatest jazz singers of our age and will embracing everything from the American songbook to his early pop hits at this special concert.

If you were lucky enough to catch Davina Sowers with her band Davina & The Vagabonds last year you’ll know it’s the hottest ticket in town. The singer/pianist from Minneapolis is bringing back her New Orleans’ charm, Memphis soul-swagger and southern gospel to rock Edinburgh for a whole 10-day residency.

Fans of the legendary Roberta Flack will be delighted to see songstress, Niki King, return to the Festival and this time covering Flack’s debut album, First Take. King’s put together a special band with an international line-up, including harp and strings to sing the songs of Flack made famous, including “Until It’s Time For You To Go”, “Reverend Lee”, “Compared To What”, “Killing Me Softly” and “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”.

One of our favourite jazz and swing singers, Todd Gordon, is also returning to the Festival and with a very special guest, Carol Kidd, this July. They’ll be singing the songs of the legendary Tony Bennett, expect classic songs from a classic era including “The Good Life”, “I Wanna Be Around”, “Smile”, “For Once in My Life”, “How Do You Keep the Music Playing”, “Maybe This Time” and, of course,” I Left My Heart In San Francisco”.

And introducing...

Cuba meets Edinburgh in the form of the sensational Dayme Arocena. Singing to a ritualistic rumba beat, her voice is a soulful celebration of Cuban music and jazz. She’s signed to Giles Peterson’s label and is definitely one to watch at this year’s Festival.

French singer, Cyrille Aimee, is a rising star in the world of jazz singers. Expect a wonderful mix of music from this singer and her French-American band who play gypsy swing; Michael Jackson tunes; Serge Gainsbourg; Antonio Carlos Jobim...

This singer is winning awards and accolades all over the place so we are over the moon to have Mads Mathias performing at the Festival. This cool and charismatic singer and saxophonist takes on the classics as well as his catchy original material. He’s influenced by great jazz singers past and present, from Nat King Cole to Harry Connick Jr, so you’ll be in for a treat from this Dane.

Lithuania's Viktorija Gecyte is another sensational female vocalist coming to Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival. She’s a true class act and sings classics from the American Songbook as if the 50s had never gone! She’s performing with legendary US bassist Gene Perla.
