New Orleans bows out tonight

Derrick Freeman presents a killer funk band based in New Orleans: Smokers World. The band does live funk and hip hop and good-time partying. “We celebrate life!” Led by Derrick Freeman, heralded MC, this New Orleans mainstay has been entertaining crowds since 2007.
Jazz Royalty sings tonight

Jacqui Dankworth is one of the most highly regarded vocalists in the UK, she is also the daughter of jazz singer Cleo Laine and musician John Dankworth. She closes the Rose Theatre programme tonight with husband Charlie Wood playing a programme of duets entitled "Just Me, Just You".
The Bad Plus bow out

In November pianist Ethan Iverson will leave The Bad Plus, so this is (probably) the final chance to see the original line-up in Edinburgh - at 5pm in Rose Theatre - very limited seats left. Reid Anderson and Dave King will continue The Bad Plus with Orrin Evans taking the piano chair.
New Focus recreated tonight

Stan Getz made one of the greatest jazz recordings of all time when he teamed up with composer, Eddie Sauter, to improvise with a rhythm section and strings on the album "Focus". Sauter's rhythmically and harmonically exciting masterpiece is sometimes overlooked, it's rare for concert promoters to get the special forces together.
