Edinburgh Jazz School - Online

Edinburgh Jazz School Online

Due to the current restrictions, Edinburgh Jazz School will run online as a series of 8 Zoom sessions led by Fergus McCreadie, Joe Williamson, David Bowden, and other young professionals from the Scottish Jazz Scene.

Via Zoom, they'll lead small groups in masterclasses based around simple principles of jazz performance and improvisation, as well as larger group sessions to improve your timekeeping, rhythm, harmony and ear.

Each session will be between 60-90 mins, and run Saturdays from 11am, following a curriculum of jazz standards and techniques delevoped by the tutors.

Jazz School - Autumn 2020

Details of our upcoming Autumn term will be released in July, if you would like to pre-register your interest, please e-mail

We will have space for 30 pupils. The 8 sessions will cost £40 in total (only £5 a lesson), with discounts and scholarships for young people looking to progress in Jazz.

It will require the use of the iReal Pro app or similar, to give you something to play along to at home to combat the inherent latency of internet VoIP protocals. It's available to download on all mobile, tablets or Laptops, for £10, and has a library of 1200+ jazz standard chord sequences, in every key/tempo/style; it's an invaluable tool for practicing and gigging, and so is an investment well worth making. We are in talks with iReal to gain some educational discounts if you are in real financial difficulty to afford the app, email to discuss.
