Improvised Music Company’s series Blind Date Jazz brings listening and creative improvisation into focus, with pairs of Ireland’s leading improvisers coming into the studio to create an exciting, new, musical conversation. The twist? Neither musician has any idea who they are playing with.
Join the journey of two individual musicians in a studio, bisected by a curtain, completely obscured from each other’s sight. They begin to play, exchanging musical thoughts, developing a theme and interacting only through the music and an open mind - completely blind.
Halfway through, the studio curtain drops, and they come face to face with their new improvising partner. Does the musical conversation change? Blind Date Jazz is an exciting exploration in listening, intuition, skill and spontaneity, all unique hallmarks of the improvising musician. Immerse yourself in the intuitive interactions between three pairs of improvising artists and the tension and release of these live experiences. Featuring:
Mike Nielsen & Cathal Roche
Izumi Kimura & Lina Andonovska
Chris Guilfoyle & Meilana Gillard
