A great jazz vocalist has improvisation skills, timing, phrasing, range, power, ability to convey emotion, impact on other vocalists, uniqueness, and versatility. Maybe you have heard a song that really caught your attention, but listening more closely to it you realise it was the sound of the singer and how they were kind-of just part of the song.
Showcasing traditional jazz from New Orleans hot jazz through the big band swing era, as well as Manouche jazz and ragtime from the era when jazz musicians were the people known by their single name: Fats, Satchmo, Duke, Django - the Madonna or Beyonce of their time. We hark back to the era before be bop and with vibrant performances that maintaine a direct line fromthen to now.
