Something special for Father's Day 19 Jun 2015

Something special for Father's Day image

If you're on the lookout for great last-minute gift for Father's Day (this Sunday, 21 June) then what about getting him tickets to one of our great shows in July?

All dads are different of course, but we've such a wide range of acts and events this year that there's plenty to satisfy any taste - however, here are some that we think might go down especially well...

George Benson
Edinburgh Festival Theatre
Sunday 26 July, 19:30
Book online now - or call 0131 473 2000

He's one of the world's top jazz and soul singers, and has a glittering career to prove it! George is making his first appearance at the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, and it's sure to be a fantastic night in the comfortable and beautiful Festival Theatre. For a gift that's extra-special, this one's pretty hard to top.

Blues from Chicago
Edinburgh Festival Theatre
Friday 24 July, 20:00
Book online now - or call 0131 473 2000

The Rolling Stones, Fleetwod Mac, John Mayall - all classic 'dad rock' and all inspired by the wonderful, powerful music which came out of America's 'Windy City'. Here's a chance to go back to those roots and witness two greats of Chicago Blues - Mud Morganfield (son of the legendary Muddy Waters) and award winning guitar maestro, Lurrie Bell.

Royal Southern Brotherhood/Mr Sipp
Queen's Hall
Saturday 18 July, 20:00
Book online now - or call 0131 473 2000

Making their first appearance at the Festival, but boasting a lineup full of experience and talent, RSB are a supercharged blues-rock supergroup from the USA. Their music is powerful, exciting and filled to the brim with southern soul, making this double bill a particularly great night. On the other half of the bill is the 'Mississippi Blues Child', Mr Sipp, who's bringing his superb blues sound to Edinburgh for the first time, and will complete a fantastic night.

Brian Kellock Swingtet
George Square Spiegeltent
Monday 20 July, 20:00
Book online now - or call 0131 473 2000

Speaking of supergroups, if swinging jazz is more your dad's style than blues rock, then it's definitely worth considering this fantastic one-night-only combo. The specially assembled Swingtet features some of the world's best jazz musicians joining the Edinburgh piano master, including Scott Hamilton, Warren Vaché, Jacob Fischer, Mark Nightingale and John Rae.

Stefan Grossman
George Square Spiegeltent
Wednesday 22 July, 18:00
Book online now - or call 0131 473 2000

And finally, we've another fleeting opportunity, with hugely influential blue guitarist Stefan Grossman playing one of his rare solo shows. Stefan's intricate playing style (or styles, since he's expert in many) make him a supremely satisfying musician to experience in person.

And if none of those sound right, have a look through the rest of our programme and treat your dad to something really special!
