Jazz 100 - Dizzy Gillespie 22 Jun 2017
With his beret and goatee Dizzy Gillespie became the symbol of bebop, the music he helped to create in the mid-1940s, and redefined the language of big bands and small groups alike. As well as taking virtuosity to new heights, he managed to make complex music accessible to the public, introducing Latin American rhythms and latterly leading his all-star United Nation Orchestra.
Ryan Quigley plays Gillespie at this year's Festival. Read more about the show here!
