Three Great Online music courses for all abilities during the lockdown, all via Zoom
After a year of successful sessions at the St Bride's Centre, Edinburgh - The GD Jam, Edinburgh Blues Academy and Jazz School are moving online for another term of digital lessons via the Zoom.us conference call software.
GD Jam - Every Monday, 7pm.
The GD Jam is a free session every Monday night. Open to musicians of all ages and standards, to come online and make music together. No experience necessary, every instrument is welcome.
Sessions led by Mike Kearney and other professional tutors from around Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Jazz School (Sat 11am) and Edinburgh Blues Academy (Wed 7pm)
Jazz School and Blues Academy are fun, group classes for amaeture musicians looking to improve their playing with like minded peers; taught by Scotlands leading young professionals.
Via Zoom, teaching compramises of small groups in masterclasses and instrument led sessions based around history and principles of Jazz/Blues performance and improvisation, as well as larger group sessions to improve your timekeeping, rhythm, harmony and ear.
Each session will be between 60-90 mins, Wednesday from 7pm [Blues] and Saturday 11am [Jazz]; following a curriculum of Jazz & Blues standards and techniques developed by the tutors, and released in the coming days. There'll also be new tutorial videos, worksheets and backing tracks to practice along to through the week, as well as a growing online community for pupils to say hello, share tips and ideas, and great songs from the genre.
Edinburgh Jazz School is taught by - Fergus McCreadie, Jow Williamson, David Bowden, Matt Charmichael and guests
Edinburgh Blues Academy by Toby Mottershead, Ewan Gibson, Vid Gobac, with guest sessinos from Jed Potts, Nicole Smit and others through the term.
Course fees for each are only £40 for an 8 week term, with scholarships and discounts available for young players with a passion for learning Jazz/Blues.
