Martin Kershaw: The Howness

One of the leading musicians on the vibrant Scottish jazz scene, alto saxophonist Martin Kershaw has put together a new Quartet recording packed with inventive and intelligent music. His band features Paul Harrison (piano), Euan Burton (bass), and Doug Hough (drums), and guitarist Graeme Stephen guests on two tunes.

"From the opening knotty, querulous joust with guitarist Graeme Stephen (a guest on two tracks) on the title track to his closing radical re-imagining of Charlie Parker’s Steeplechase, this is another powerful affirmation that Kershaw is one of our most consistently creative, absorbing and often challenging musicians." Kenny Mathieson, The Scotsman

"Kershaw restates his credentials as an imaginative writer and strong, individual soloist...confirming his talent for unpredictable but engaging re-interpretation." Rob Adams, The Herald
